Lyndal Yelavich

Lyndal is a successful dressage and eventing rider who is now riding abroad, based in Germany. Having taken her favourite two horses with her, and adding some new faces to her team there, Lyndal has an exciting training and competition season planned for 2024 across Europe.

"I've spent years developing myself as a rider through several avenues and disciplines. From a young age, I always knew I wanted to work with horses.

I did the rounds through Juniors as a showjumper before I landed my first job in racing at 16 years old. I rode for top stables, most notably Godolphin and not only was it a steady source of income to support my equestrian ambitions but more importantly a grounding to the horsemanship that is required at the elite level of any horse sport.

In 2014 I started my own Equine Pre-Export Quarantine business and ran that alongside my eventing team. I produced a few promising horses to FEI 2* and 3*, one of which - my unicorn "Riggles" who won several State and National titles.

Four years ago, I began this current adventure with Karen Miller - the owner of Ballodair Park Equestrian Centre and I haven't looked back. I have an amazingly talented team of horses, Karen is so wonderfully supportive and the facility is World Class. Our aim is to put our horses on the National and World Stage and have fun doing it!"

The support is really next level. It does feel like we are all a part of the same community and above all else - the Bare tagline - ‘Be kind, always’. I’m this sport, we need the positive and kind people to help it progress 🙏

Quick questions with Lyndal

THIS BARE PRODUCT BECAUSE…

My Charlotte jacket. Living in Europe now, I have discovered a whole new level of desire for warmth, style and comfort and this jacket has both.

MY MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT IS…

In a performance sense it was 2023, my horse Asterix winning a National Fold performance medal for his performances in the Medium classes throughout the year. He has missed so much work and competition time through illness so to have him so successful when he stepped up a level was very heartening.

On a personal and development level it was the day I landed in Germany to start the next chapter of my training and competition performance.

MY FAVOURITE EXERCISE OR TRAINING TO PRACTICE IS…

To develop suppleness and good flying changes shoulder fore in counter canter. For example - counter canter on the left rein, whilst doing shoulder fore right.

THE LAST THING I THINK ABOUT BEFORE ENTERING THE ARENA IS…

Give 100% - the training is done, now we dance 💃

BEST COMPETITION DAY ADVICE...

Be prepared and well organised - all the hard work for competitions is done at home in the months, weeks and days prior. Have gear bags packed, check-lists done, car and float fuelled up and ready to hit the road. Don't add to competition day nerves by creating chaos in being ill-prepared!

Engage with your fellow competitors. What I love MOST about our sport is that whilst we are all working to win, we have each other's backs too. Most of all, have fun!! The journey is long and rewarding and there are many bumpy roads along the way, so we absolutely must have fun doing it so our horses do too.

RIGHT NOW I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO…

A very exciting year ahead developing my horses. The two horses I brought here from Australia will compete in a lathe Small Tour competition in a Saint Tropez at the end of July. Ballodair Park Dauphin - the Horse we recently purchased in Germany will be aimed towards the Nuremberger cup - a prestigious Small Tour Championship for young horses

MY TOP 3 BARE PICKS ARE…

  1. The Merino pad - all my horses have sensitive backs and these pads provide style and support.
  2. My Charlotte jacket - as explained above, a necessary in my European wardrobe and of course, the
  3. Breeches - They just fit so well, they’re flattering and functional. That to me is always a win!
